Y. Ziggah<\/strong>&nbsp;is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geomatic Engineering and the current Head of the Mining Engineering Department within the Faculty of Mining and Minerals Technology (FMMT). Over the years, he has carefully balanced academic pursuits with industrial experience. His research and consultancy interests encompass Geodesy (including coordinate transformation, height unification, geoid modelling, and crustal deformation), artificial intelligence applications in geosciences, ground vibration monitoring, noise monitoring and mapping, seismic site characterization, borehole siting, geotechnical and geophysical site investigations, mine concession boundary demarcation and pillar design, air and stack emission monitoring, explosive test performance, blast optimisation, as well as compensation, cadastral, and drone surveying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has provided consultancy services to Anglogold Ashanti (Iduapriem Mine), Goldfields Ghana Ltd, AKSA Energy, the Minerals Commission, CENIT Energy, Hasman Technical Services, and Chirano Gold Mine. He is a member of several prestigious societies, including Sigma Xi (The Scientific Research Honor Society), the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences (IAMG), the European Geosciences Union (EGU), the Asia Computational Intelligence Society (ACIS), and the International Association of Engineers (IAENG). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assoc. Prof. Ziggah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geomatic Engineering (First Class) from the former Western University College (WUC) of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), now the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Ghana. He earned both his Master of Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Geodesy and Survey Engineering from the China University of Geosciences (CUG) in Wuhan, P. R. China. A cross-disciplinary researcher focused on applying artificial intelligence technology to diverse fields, he has authored more than 130 peer-reviewed journal articles and has over 2000 Google Scholar citations, with an h-index of 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was awarded the Erasmus+ Mobility Program (Project No. 2019-1-HR01-KA107-060762). From 2019 to 2021, he served as Co-Principal Investigator for the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Professorial Chair in Mining Engineering at UMaT. Assoc. Prof. Ziggah received the inaugural Vice Chancellor\u2019s Outstanding Performance Award at the UMaT 14th Congregation on March 25, 2023, in recognition of his academic achievements. He was also named a 2024 Top Scholar by ScholarGPS\u00ae, which places him among the top 0.5% of scholars worldwide according to their 2024 rankings, acknowledging his strong publication record, the impact of his work, and the notable quality of his scholarly contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is a Fellow of the West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (WAIMM).
