The WAIMM groups provide the relevant platform for skill enhancement and knowledge sharing where specific professionals in the core sectors of the mining and petroleum industry meet, network and discuss pertinent and pressing specific issues in their field of practice.
The Finance Committee (FLC) of the governing council is tasked to ensure the regularization of WAIMM’s finances. The committee also has an oversight responsibility of the WAIMM Endowment Fund.
The purpose is to ensure there is a steady flow of funds into the Institute’s finances in order to meet the social responsibilities.
The committee also provides financial planning and ensures transparency in the accounting and revenue mobilization.
The Committee is also responsible for providing legal counselling and interpretation of the laws and operations of various aspects of the institute. Where necessary, additional legal interpretation is sourced from outside the group on consultancy basis.
The Finance Committee is made up of mostly governing council members and report to the Council. The Chairman of the FC also Chairs the WAIMM Endowment Fund and advises the governing council on business and financial planning measures.
