2nd Annual WAIMM Young Professionals Empowerment Conference, WYPG2019

The West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum is organizing the 2nd Anual Young Professional Group Conference – ‘THE WYPG EMPOWERMENT Conference’ in Ghana in from 14 – 16 February 2019 at the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa.

THEME: ‘SHAPING THE FUTURE OF THE MINING, OIL & GAS INDUSTRY – role of the upcoming Professional ‘

The maiden students conference would bring together students from the various WAIMM chapters in Universities offering earth science and engineering. The annual students conference would be held on:

Venue: University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa – Ghana

Duration: 3 days

The WAIMM Young Professional Group provides the platform for students, graduate membership and newly completed university graduates to strengthen their network base and career development. The YPG is for all recent graduates and early industry professionals  with less than 3years industry experience looking at pursuing and strengthening their future practice in mining, metallurgy & materials, geoscience, engineering and allied industries.

The WYPG Empowerment Conference 2019 promises to have a brain storming and networking session in the form which will will seek to inform participants on best practices and innovations in the industry. Highlights of the event will include:

  • the WAIMM Best Student award
  • Networking sessions
  • 2 – 3 mine site visits
  • Students-meet-industry sessions
  • Workshop on introduction to Surpac
  • Workshop on introduction to ArcGIS
  • Workshop on introduction to MapInfo
  • Fun trip to Busua beach resort
  • Other activities
