This is an annual award given to speakers who have excelled with thought provoking research and industry contributions over the years. The aim of the lectures is to set the tone towards influencing policy formulation and operational enhancement.

The speakers are given the opportunity to do about three presentations during the year at various WAIMM organized seminars, branch and student chapter meetings and conferences etc. with the final presentation during the WAIMM annual general meeting.

The selected speakers are chosen on the basis of their accomplishments and distinguished services rendered to the industry from a rigorous process of trending industry topical issues and in competitive criteria by the Education committee for subsequent approval by the Council.

Nominations and subsequent confirmation for the Distinguished Lecturer Award would not be more than 10 persons annually and the criteria for selection includes the recognition of their accomplishments in the mining and petroleum community as regards technical, management, educational and scientific sectors.

Only WAIMM membership professionals qualify to be nominated for the Distinguished Lecturers Award.
