Meet Meshack Quainoo, Geotechnical Superintendent, Newmont Ghana Gold – Ahafo mine, Subika Underground, Ghana

The WAIMM is celebrating our industry professionals who are on the move and have been assigned new roles and promotions in their line of duty during he months of October and November 2022. The purpose is to celebrate and highlight their achievement, provide mentorship opportunities for the young professional group members, share their experiences to motivate other industry professionals.

WAIMM is happy to highlight the achievement of Mershack Quainoo, a geological engineer for providing geological and geotechnical services to the mining industry in Ghana for over 10years.

Meshack Quainoo is currently the Geotechnical Superintendent at Newmont Ghana Gold’s Ahafo Subika underground Mine with over 10 years working experience in the mining industry in Ghana.

Prior to his current role, Meshack worked as a Geological and Geotechnical engineer with Kinross Gold’s – Chirano Mine, from 2014 – 2019. He later joined the Newmont Ghana Gold Subika Underground Mine as a Geotechnical engineer in 2019 and more recently as a Senior Backfill Engineer. Meshack manages all aspects of void backfilling and ground control management, leads in the effective transfer of skills and mentorship for his team of engineers.

He holds a BSc degree in Geological Engineering (2011) from the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa – Ghana. He is a member of the West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (MWAIMM).

Meshack believes that, as industry professionals we should be ready to change the narrative and make positive impact wherever we find ourselves.
