The purpose is to celebrate and highlight their achievement, provide mentorship opportunities for the young professional group members, share their experiences to motivate other industry professionals.

Today, the WAIMM is celebrating the success of Peter Ofori-Amanfo, the current Unit Manager, Exploration at Future Global Resources (FGR) Ltd, Prestea – Ghana. Peter is a geologist with over 23 years of experience in mineral exploration and underground mining operations. His key role is resource development in both surface and underground.

Prior to his current role, Peter worked as exploration geologist at Golden Star Resources Ltd Bogoso mine rising through the ranks to Senior exploration geologist (1999 – 2010). More recently, he worked with AVOCET Mining, Burkina Faso also as senior exploration geologist (2010 – 2012). More recently he was the Senior Production Geologist at FGR, a position he occupied since 2016.

His special interests include increasing the geological understanding of the deposits through good documentation, improved systems in both exploration and mine geology methodologies and sampling techniques by optimising production through geological, geotechnical and geometallurgical properties.

He has published articles on theory of sampling, and currently researching into assessment of reef tonnage uncertainty associated with narrow vein deposit.
