Meet Yvonne Edem Sunu, Senior Metallurgist – Adamus Resources Ltd, Ghana

The WAIMM has dedicated the months of March and April 2022 to celebrate and highlight our women industry professionals as our appreciation to strong, committed, professionalism, courageous and resilient women across the sub-region and globally. The recognition is to raise awareness of gender inequality, diversity, and inclusion needed in the industry and also celebrate the successes of some of our women industry professionals who are making a change in the sector.

WAIMM is honored to celebrate the success of Yvonne Edem Sunu, a metallurgical and processing engineer at Adamus Resources Ltd in Ghana.

Yvonne Edem Sunu holds a BSc in Minerals Engineering (2011) from the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa – Ghana and a certified processing superintendent by the Minerals Commission of Ghana.

She is a Senior Metallurgist at Adamus Resources Limited. She worked as a graduate metallurgist from 2012 to 2015 and plant metallurgical accountant from 2016 to 2020 before taking on her current role.

Yvonne has over 10years experience in the mining industry, and has been involved in process improvement projects, technical modifications of plants, monitoring process performance to ensure optimal results, crushing and milling operations, improving gold recovery and reagent consumption in the process circuit.

She led the Adamus Mine and Safety team in the annual national inter – mine first aid safety competition in 2015 and aspires to be a renowned Mineral Processing Engineer that solves problems and to constantly be a beacon of hope to the girl child.

Yvonne is a member of the WAIMM and believes that, the more women are supported, the more they will be encouraged to take up roles in the industry to help bridge the gender gap.
