The West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (WAIMM) will host its 6th Annual Students conference (WSC) from the 24th-26th July, 2025, in Tarkwa, Ghana. This esteemed and successful annual event for early professionals brings together students studying earth sciences and engineering from seven universities throughout Ghana, facilitating a platform for interaction and knowledge sharing with industry professionals. The conference aims to foster the exchange of ideas and insights regarding current industry developments and operational trends. The theme for this year’s WSC is, “Shaping the Next Level of Young Professionals in the Natural Resources Industry – Harnessing Technology and Innovation.”
This year’s theme emphasizes the importance of integrating technological advancements and innovative practices in the development of future leaders in the natural resources sector. As part of our commitment to professional development, knowledge transfer, mentorship, and networking, we have scheduled conference event program on the 26th July 2025.

The WSC is the WAIMM’s official Conference & Education platform for the students and early career professionals in the Mining and Petroleum industry.

The WSC provides the opportunity for WAIMM student chapters across Ghana and beyond to influence the direction the chapter goals and vision, helping to foster networking opportunities, enhance career development, and support the aspirations of students from recognized universities and research institutions.
Objectives:
We are excited to share that the WAIMM Students Conference (WSC2025) will focus on addressing critical issues within the industry, including best practices, frameworks and regulations, ethical standards, and the role of artificial intelligence in mining and petroleum. The conference will also highlight current innovations and technological research that are shaping the future of these sectors.
WSC2025 will bring together key speakers from the Mining & Petroleum industries and participants from various WAIMM student chapters across Ghana. It will provide an exceptional platform for discussing new developments, mentorship opportunities, technological innovations, and the latest trends in operations.
