Congratulations Stephen Afou, PMGL-Edikan site

Stephen Afou holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Chemistry from the University of Ghana and an MBA in Finance from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He has participated in various workshops, conferences, and training programs, earning numerous certificates along the way. Additionally, he is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and the Ghanaian Institute of Geoscientists (GHIG), as well as a Fellow of the West African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (WAIMM).

Mr. Afou possesses specialized expertise in mining geology, mineral resource modelling, and mineral exploration, particularly in gold, iron, and copper across West and Southern Africa.

He began his professional career at Gold Fields, advancing to the role of Sectional Geologist at the Damang mine, where he honed his skills in geological assessment and orebody characterization. He furthered his experience at Met-Chem Canada Inc. and ArcelorMittal as a Senior Geologist, contributing to advanced exploration projects and resource estimation techniques. Subsequently, he served as Exploration Manager and West African Representative for Minexcon Exploration and Jonah Capital, focusing on strategic exploration initiatives and mineral asset development.

Until the recent role, Stephen Afou was the Unit Manager for Regional Exploration at Asanko Gold, where he led various programs aimed at expanding the company’s resource base. In mid-2025, he joined Perseus Mining Ghana as Exploration Superintendent and was recently promoted to Exploration Manager. In this position, he oversees the company’s exploration strategy and operations, driving value through innovative exploration methodologies and efficient resource management.
