The West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (WAIMM) is hosting the fifth conference of its hugely successful WAIMM Young Professional Group Conference, WYPG2025. The WYPG2025 will be held at Kumasi, Ghana from the 15th – 16th January 2025. The theme for the conference is “THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE YOUNG PROFESSIONAL – Role of Mentorship and Networking“.
Background:
The WYPG is the WAIMM’s official Conference & Education platform for the young professionals in the Mining and Petroleum industry.
The WAIMM Young Professional Group provides the platform for students, graduate membership and newly completed university graduates to strengthen their network base and career development. The YPG is for all recent graduates and early industry professionals with 2 – 5 years industry experience looking at pursuing and strengthening their future practice in mining, metallurgy & materials, geoscience, oil & gas, engineering and allied industries.
Objectives:
WYPG2025 will focus on addressing issues including best practices, framework and industry regulations, mining and petroleum industry code of ethics, current innovations and technological research in the mining and petroleum industry. The event seeks to bring together, key speakers from the Mining & Petroleum industries, participants from all the various WAIMM student chapters across Ghana, Graduates in mining and petroleum related professions, engineering etc. to discuss new developments, technological innovations, and the latest industry trends.
The WYPG Empowerment Conference 2025 promises to have a brain storming and networking session in the form which will seek to inform participants on best practices and innovations in the industry. Highlights of the event will include:
WYPG2025 also seeks to present participants with hands-on approach, mentorship and practical field experiences from industry professionals to enable them appreciate the complete mining, oil & gas cycle and processes.
